Baby Elephant Can’t Stop Following Her Rescuer After Being Sᴀᴠᴇᴅ From Dᴇᴀᴛʜ
|Moyo was Sᴀᴠᴇᴅ from ᴅʀᴏᴡɴɪɴɢ while trying to cross a flooded river when she was only a few days old. She was also abandoned by her pack but, luckily, rangers found her just as a pack of hyenas had surrounded her. The hero rangers took Moyo to the ‘Wild Is Life’ sanctuary, whose founder Roxy Danckwerts became the orphan’s new mom.
The fourteen-month-old now follows her new mum everywhere – a habit which is becoming increasingly tricky as the elephant grows. Roxy said Moyo recognizes her scent and voice and always finds her that way. It is not easy to live with Moyo while she is growing up, because her incidents around the house are very common.
“She is one of those animals with whom I have formed an extraordinary bond of friendship, trust and love,” said Danckwerts. “I am very anxious about the reality of the release into the wild, especially for Moyo, letting go will be hard.”
Although Danckwerts has befriended Moyo and created that amazing bond between them, he wants to let her into his world again because it’s best for her.
Although she is much older, it is clearly not clear to her yet. She also has a power she is not even aware of.
Moyo is also trying to eat cutlery.
She wants to see and touch everything, so he often makes a mess in the house.
When she wants to get to Danckwerts, nothing can stop her.
More about “Wild Is Life” Sanctuary: “We believe that the elephant nursery is about affording the individual orphans a second chance at life. These orphans, who have been severely ᴛʀᴀᴜᴍᴀᴛɪᴢᴇᴅ, deserve the opportunity to grow and thrive in the natural world.
It is also about sharing the experience of these individuals with human kind. Of asking human beings to look beyond their own species … to draw a parallel between themselves and something that is wild.
